Cudillero the seafaring charm of the north and home of the pixuetos

There are those who say that it is one of the most beautiful coastal towns in Asturias ... And, surely, they are right. Cudillero is a picturesque town with a seafaring tradition, declared a Historic-Artistic Site and located on the central western coast of Asturias.

This town called pixueta (because of the language spoken and its inhabitants, the pixuetos) gives off an aura of mystery as it is located in a natural bend and cannot be seen from heaven or earth. As if it were a painting, its houses (reminiscent of the Italian Riviera ) descend the slope between two hills and shape its colorful amphitheater until reaching the port.

One of the biggest tourist attractions in Cudillero is the town itself, which begins with the Plaza de la Marina , the nerve center of the town full of terraces where you can eat and enjoy the atmosphere. From there you can start wandering around and get lost in its characteristic fishing corners full of history between murals, nets, floats and old fishermen's homes.

The viewpoints surround the town and are another of the town's main Telegram Number Data charms. Its coast is rocky and has powerful cliffs, which means that its beaches can vary from the wildest to the calmest and most peaceful of the Cantabrian Sea , such as Playa del Silencio , Oleiros or Concha de Artedo .

Cudillero does not have a large area so it can be covered in one day. However, in its surroundings there are some incredible places that you should not forget to visit if you have the opportunity, such as the excursion to Cabo Vidio or a visit to the Selgas Palace to contemplate the works of Goya and El Greco .

The Plaza de la Marina  is also known as the center of the Cudillero Amphitheater because of the way the buildings are located around it. The place is characterized by the bright colors of the houses that surround it. Among them, the town's old market stands out, the only one in white and blue. Today, it no longer has that function. For some years it was the headquarters of the Aula de los Pixuetos y la Mar de Cudillero Museum . Today, however, the building houses a restaurant.

Palace of the Selgas
Located in the Asturian town of Cudillero, the Palacio de los Selgas , also known as 'La Quinta', houses an important artistic heritage, the legacy of the Selgas-Fagalde family . At the end of the 19th century, the brothers Ezequiel and Fortunato de Selgas y Albuerne gathered an extensive collection of works of art in this architectural complex.

Fortunato de Selgas himself was the one who designed this four-story palace in 1883 that reflects the characteristic features of 16th century Italian civil architecture .

As for gastronomy , if you go in summer, try seafood or rice with lobster and crab beans accompanied by a small glass of local cider .

What to do in Cudillero
For nature and sports lovers, a group hiking route through the Brañas Vaqueiras will be the best option. You can't miss the climb to Pico de San Roque , the hermitage and its granary. A green esplanade that will make you fall in love with its panoramic views of the Asturian coast.
